We encountered this postcard recently which appears to be quite rare. It is claimed to be of a donkey cart take on Water St. taken in 1908 during "Old Home Week". If anyone can confirm or recall if there was ever a "Shaws" market on Water St. or if you can identify the buildings? Are there are any descendants of Louise and Molly Cogswell out there? Scott McLeod writes, "To me the building on the postcard appears to be the one on the corner of Mechanic and Water. I am not a native of Mattapoisett but have summered there almost my entire life (Crescent Beach). No idea of the market’s name or history."
